SAP Users Crowd the Teradata Booth

I attended the SAPPHIRE NOW conference and was really encouraged by the great attendance. The Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL was packed with both business and IT people from all over the world. The SAP ecosystem is strong. The Teradata booth in the exhibition hall was also packed with people who were clamoring to learn more about the availability of SAP NetWeaver BW on Teradata, Teradata optimizations for SAP BusinessObjects, and our platform family.

There were many microforums at the conference where SAP discussed cloud computing, mobile apps, advanced analytics, new product releases, and in-memory analytics. Without a doubt though, enterprise data warehousing was a hot topic. Lexmark, a joint customer, presented to a full audience and provided insight into their environment and roadmap to leverage BW on Teradata. Clearly, the traditional SAP ERP crowd is now quite focused on analytics and reporting. In particular, SAP users are hungry for big data analytics. I attended a session that was facilitated by the EDW Influence Council of SAP where a group of passionate users expressed the urgent need for big data integrated analytics. I pointed them to our booth where the crowd was learning and viewing a live demonstration of SAP NetWeaver BW 7.3 running on the Teradata database. Already, our customers in ramp-up are seeing the Teradata data warehouse platform provides a significant improvement in its ability to support and manage large data volumes.
