Of course is would seem that there must be some value in linking documents, via semantics, drawn from different people and different parts of the enterprise.  And, perhaps by establishing these links, we will ‘discover’ new meaning.

But does this add a lot more than a well structured and managed document management system?  The document management system of course works at document level (using content types and meta data), whereas the semantic links operate within the documents.

Tend to think the value in the enterprise is some combination of the documents themselves (ie their content) and access to the documents’ authors.  Again the authors may be identified through the document management system.  Perhaps the key is providing environments to support collaboration between document authors, rather than software to semantically link documents published by real people?
