A new IBM national survey of 30,000 U.S. consumers calls Sandstrom a “shifter,” someone highly motivated to move purchases to new retailers in order to get what she wants. “What we saw was what I call the rise of the new power shopper, what we a call a shifter. A shifter is a shopper who will shift their spending from retailer to retailer,” said Fred Balboni, global retail industry leader for IBM Global Business Services.
