Data analytics is used by companies to create higher quality games. They often use machine learning to streamline the development process and create higher quality AI solutions to enhance the viability of the game.

If you want to become a better player and rise the ranks, you have to analyze your in-game performance; there’s no way around it. When you play a game like League of Legends, you generate vast amounts of data, and you can analyze this data to tell you more about the type of player you are today. By monitoring your stats, you’ll know where you need to improve and can put a plan into action.

You can then continually monitor your performance to see whether you’re getting better. If you don’t analyze your performance, then you’re essentially left in the dark about why you’re losing matches. Sure, you might be able to point to a few bad moves in a match, but you won’t know whether the general way you play is contributing to your losses.

League of Legends Performance Data Analytics Tools

There are a lot of great data analytics tools that can be invaluable for League of Legends players. You can use the following big data platforms to gain more insights in the game.

MOBALYTICS

Mobalytics is a comprehensive personal performance analytics tool complete with stunning graphs and detailed visuals. It offers a tier list of champions based on their current strength for the environment and current patch. It also color codes champions based on difficulty so you can make the best decision for your skill level and comfort. It also provides advice, both general and detailed, for your direct matchups, allowing for a smoother laning phase.

One of the most competitive features of mobalytics, beyond general performance analytics, is the mobalytics proving round. This is a testing app that trains your skills in map awareness, reaction time, and general LoL mechanics. Mastering these aspects of the game will make you a stronger player, and knowing when and where to click eventually becomes muscle memory – you don’t even have to think about it. The proving ground works like this. You have 4 bars on the right side of your score, corresponding with the default game keys Q, W, E, R, D, F. These bars shrink at different points, eventually turning green. If you hit the bar correctly with one of your keys when it turns green, you’re awarded points. If you hit the bar at the wrong time or use the wrong key, you don’t gain points. It’s that simple.

OP.GG

With op.gg you can analyze your performance stats, see comprehensive Champion analytics, and review the leaderboard all in one easy to understand app. You can use the website or download the desktop app. It also houses some fantastic match replays from the best players in the world, so you can watch and learn from the best.

LOLCLASS

Excellent website that’s easy to use for both beginners and seasoned players. LOLCLASS isn’t a tool for tracking your personal performance, but the website does use LoL game data to make recommendations for what the meta is right now. You can find the top Champions per position, find what Champions are strong but underutilized right now, and more. You can also find helpful tips, tricks, and guides, both in videos and blog posts. Overall great website if you want to improve your gameplay.

League of Graphs

Leagueofgraphs.com is an excellent tool for seeing the latest in-game stats and knowledge. The data is incredibly easy to understand, and you can even see infographics with everything you need to know for each patch of the game. It’ll tell you the up-to-date information for the most and least popular and successful Champions. It will also tell you stats like average match lengths, win rates after first blood, and more.

If you’re just getting into tracking your game performance but don’t want to wait to climb the ranks, you can buy League of Legends boosting services from Eldorado. You can buy rank boosts for NA< EUW, EUNE, and other regions.

Self-Analysis in League of Legends

Beyond tools, some good old-fashioned self-analysis is always a good idea if you want to improve at a game. You can do this by analyzing your replays. If you’re not sure how to find your replays, you simply go to profile, match history, and then download. Watching replays will help you spot why you lost matches that you should have won. You can determine whether you made the right move, lost because of your opponent’s crits, and so on. Sometimes when we’re in the match, we don’t have time to take in everything that’s going on around us, but all of these little details make the difference between winning and losing. By watching your replays, you’ll know what to look out for next time and be more prepared going forward.

Here are some rules for watching replays:

  • Be self-critical – Don’t go into watching replays with the mindset that it was your teammates’ fault. If you do this, you won’t learn how you can improve. Most of the time, there’s always something you could have done better.
  • Look for moments where things went right, and things went wrong- What was your positioning? Did you dodge abilities? Did you back off at the wrong times? Was your build right?
  • General mistakes: Were you caught off guard at any point? Why?

Eye Tracking

Okay, this tool isn’t going to be for everyone, but it’s so awesome that it’s worth mentioning. A Santa Monica-based tech startup has invented an eye-tracking device that can help players measure their performance. While most in-game tracking software focuses on the actions you make inside a match, eye-tracking software tries to understand what’s happening on a brain level. Where were you actually looking during each second of the match? Did you spot incoming threats, or were your eyes looking in the wrong place? Were your eyes tracking the enemy’s position, or were you more focused on yourself and your team?

This software has the potential to be very disruptive on the esports scene. Why? Because it doesn’t just tell you that you made mistakes, it tells you why you made those mistakes. You can also compare your eye-tracking to pro players’ eye movements to determine why they have that edge.
