R 2.9.2 scheduled for August 24

Following the usual six-monthly release cycle, the next update to R is scheduled to be released on August 24 in source form, with binary releases to follow soon thereafter. The new version number will be 2.9.2. As a point-release this means most of the changes will be bug fixes and minor feature updates. According to the current version of the NEWS file, the most significant changes will be: Improved flexibility for interpolation rules in approx and approxfun More efficient PDF graphics generation when using the Symbol font P-value significance stars now given in ANOVA tables for Poisson and Binomial GLMs…

  • Improved flexibility for interpolation rules in approx and approxfun

  • Several bug fixes to eliminate memory corruption and crashes in unusual cases 
If you want to beta-test R 2.9.2 before release, you will be able to download binary builds starting on Monday.
