EDW09 Industry Data Models – Life Savers or Money Sinks? How Do You Decide?

2 Min Read

I’m attending George McGeachie’s very early presentation (7:15AM is way too early for me at a conference – I’m already going back to the room way past my bedtime).

Many of you have read my blog posts or attended my sessions on Industry Standard Data Models ISDMs), which cover my experiences with implementing data models administered by not for profit industry bodies.  ISDMs are a subset of industry data models.

We are having a great discussion of the issues in selecting and using industry data models.  Some of the topics of discussion:

  • Using multiple patterns/industry data models at the same time
  • Generalizations in industry models
  • Using industry data models for influence/inspiration or for production
  • Does using an industry model make project delivery
  • Where are the resources for finding industry data models

A great discussion.
