Big Data requires massive data centres to store all the data that we collectively generate. These data centres require a lot of electricity that has a big impact on the environment. So how do companies such as Microsoft, Amazon or Google ensure that their data centres are environmentally friendly? Using all of the energy and space that they require, it is almost impossible to operate a data centre with little to no impact on the environment.
