One of the most interesting changes in business over the past few years is the rise of collaboration tools within the enterprise. Yes, we’ve had email and IM for decades, but they’ve always been these outside applications that weren’t directly connected to the software tools we’re using everyday.

One of the most interesting changes in business over the past few years is the rise of collaboration tools within the enterprise. Yes, we’ve had email and IM for decades, but they’ve always been these outside applications that weren’t directly connected to the software tools we’re using everyday. Now, with companies like Microsoft, Google, IBM, SalesForce, and others (Halo BI included) building collaboration tools directly into their software offerings it’s interesting to see them morph from mere conversation and filesharing tools into knowledge bases, decision support and creativity tools with a definite positive impact on the organization’s bottom line.

With those thoughts in mind, here’s an infographic on the history of collaboration tools and the benefits it’s bringing to organizations everywhere.
