The SmartBay Project created a system to monitor wave conditions, marine life and pollution levels in and around Galway Bay, Ireland. SmartBay captures data from the Galway Bay and turns it into real-time intelligence delivered to stakeholders in the Irish maritime economy. The system runs on a cloud computing platform and is able to predict water conditions critical to the local economy. The system was developed by the Marine Institute of Ireland and IBM.
