I found it interesting that we are already seeing action against Spam through text messages.  Although I have received one or two of these types of messages, I never thought much of them.  As much as people are using cell phones these days, you had to assume that it would only be a matter of time before they would find a way to get into customers inbox through the phone.

I was also impressed by the ACMA stepping up and taking what seems to be a very small firm and putting their foot and not tollerating any breaches in the laws of ACMA.  Even though the fine does seem minimal compared to some others, hitting a small company like that could potentially cripple these smaller firms.

Opting out of unwanted text messages seems a little extreme.  But, we probably never thought that we have to worry about email before and look where we are now with that.  Anything to get into the Inbox.

I also found it interesting that this small firm consisted of one director and two part time assistants.  It amazing me to see basically mom and pop companies getting into these types of actions.  In this case, this was probably bit of a sting to them and ACMA is making them intiate training and go through a reporting regime to get them going in the right direction.

Spam goes on!!!
