Interview: General John Handy on Military Data Analysis

2 Min Read

General John Handy is the just the kind of guy you want with you in a foxhole, if the foxhole were flying at 10,000 feet. Over a 39-year career in the U.S. armed services, he was a pilot, a wing commander, the Vice Chief of the Air Force and finally the guy who ran the equivalent of UPS and travel service for the Pentagon (U.S. Transportation Command).

I had the pleasure of recently interviewing General Handy, now retired and advisor to large corporations about their management and logistics, for SmartDataCollective, and here’s just a short snapshot of his wide-ranging insights about:

  • How data analysis and decision-making have changed dramatically in the past few years;
  • How decision-making is now as “real time” as the capture of data itself;
  • How to use sophisticated data analysis to better balance the subjective opinions of your team.

I hope you enjoy the interview, and you will find General Handy here as a member on SmartDataCollective.com.
